What the Collective is, how employee ownership works, which companies sit inside it, and what happens when an owner is ready to talk about succession.
Ownership and structure
What is Plumbridge Collective?
Plumbridge Collective is the holding company that stewards a group of employee-owned businesses. It preserves what makes each company exceptional, shares what makes them collectively stronger, and is structured deliberately for disciplined growth. It is headquartered in Newport, Kentucky.
What does employee-owned actually mean here?
The Collective is 100% employee-owned. Eligible employees participate in the ESOP and hold a direct stake in the enterprise they help build. Ownership is not a benefit added after the fact; it is the structure the business runs on, and it shapes how decisions get made.
How is the Collective governed?
Through an employee-owner fiduciary structure, independent board oversight, and shared operating and quality standards that apply to every company in the Collective.
Where does the name come from?
Five ideas in one identity. PL·M nods to PL Marketing’s legacy. PLUM reflects patience: a plum tree takes years to bear fruit, then yields season after season, much like an ESOP. U is you, the employee-owner nested inside the name. BRIDGE is both literal, given the Ohio River crossings outside our door, and figurative: brands to shelves, strategy to execution, data to decisions, people to opportunity. COLLECTIVE signals shared purpose and shared ownership.
Our companies
Which companies are part of the Collective?
Two operating companies today: PL Marketing and three sixty Merchandising Solutions. The structure is built to add more. See Our Companies for detail on each.
What does PL Marketing do?
Dedicated merchandising, operational services, and analytics for The Kroger Company since 1989. The exclusive focus on Kroger delivers deep expertise, with employee-owners headquartered minutes from Kroger’s Store Support Center.
What does three sixty Merchandising Solutions do?
Drives growth for consumer brands within Kroger through dedicated category management, space optimization, insights and analytics, and brokerage: the strategic expansion of CPG product portfolios at America’s leading grocery retailer.
Do the companies operate independently?
Yes. Each keeps its own brand, clients, and leadership focus. What they share is governance, operating and quality standards, and employee ownership.
Acquisitions and succession
Where can I read more about how this works?
Our white paper, A Better Way to Become Employee-Owned, covers what an ESOP costs to build, how the mechanics actually work, and how building your own plan compares with joining an established platform. It is sourced throughout, including where the evidence is weakest. Read it on the site, or request the PDF.
What kind of companies does Plumbridge acquire?
Fit comes before finance. Three questions come ahead of any financial analysis: does the company share our culture, will the people thrive together, and will employee-owners benefit. If the answer is yes, we move to capability, geography, and strategic contribution.
Will you resell my business?
No. We buy to keep, and we have no intention of ever selling. Your business stays intact and your people join an ownership culture built to last.
What happens to my employees?
Eligible employees join the ESOP and gain a direct stake in the enterprise. That is the structure we bring to every company from day one, not a benefit bolted on after closing.
How does integration work?
The integration position is defined before the deal closes, not after. Your company keeps its clients and its leadership focus, and separated IP and independent board governance are ready to receive it from the start.
How do I start a conversation?
Email hello@plumbridgecollective.com. Inquiries go to Plumbridge leadership directly and are treated as confidential. There is no auction, no banker-driven timeline, and no obligation. See Ownership Succession for what to expect.
Careers
How do I apply for a role?
Open roles across merchandising, analytics, technology, and retail strategy are posted on our careers site. Explore open roles.
Do employees really become owners?
Yes. When the company is employee-owned, the value created returns to the people who create it. Eligibility and vesting follow the terms of the ESOP plan.
